Whitehaven Sailing and Boating Association is a recognised educational establishment authorised by the Royal Yachting Association to conduct shorebased courses and to issue certificates on their behalf.
Navigation is the art and science of finding your position at sea, of moving in the right direction to your destination and of ensuring that you have chosen a safe route and can stay on it.
Learning to sail
is a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. It is of little use to be able to manoeuvre a boat sideways out of a marina if, when at the lock gate, the skipper cannot plot and set a course.
